A Taliban Tragedy of Embezzlement and Comfort

October 6, 2006: A recent embezzlement scandal in the Taliban leadership has led to morale problems in Afghanistan. As a result of this, a rift has developed in the ranks of the Taliban's leadership. Some Taliban commanders, who are actually leading the fight inside Afghanistan, are increasingly unhappy with the movement's senior leadership back in Pakistan.

The frontline Taliban leaders are openly contrasting the hardships and risks they run on a daily basis, with the secure and often luxurious life of the senior leadership hiding out in Pakistan. Their grievances are underscored by the recent scandal, which led to the firing of the Taliban "Minister of Finance," after is was revealed that he was siphoning some of the movement's funds into his private bank account.

How serious the rift is remains to be seen, but apparently representatives of the frontline Taliban recently managed to oust a relative of the movement's leader, Mullah Omar, from the Shura council, a sort-of board of directors.

Other changes are being demanded. Part of this is a generational thing. Younger commanders insisted on displacing older ones for this years "offensive" in Afghanistan. The young guys got beat all to hell by Afghan, American and NATO troops, and are not in a good mood. Rather than blame themselves, it's more comforting to blame other leaders back in Pakistan.

An inconvenient truth!! Al Gore

cybermusings.blogspot.com

Our climate crisis may at times appear to be happening slowly, but in fact it is happening very quickly-and has become a true planetary emergency. The Chinese expression for crisis consists of two characters. The first is a symbol for danger; the second is a symbol for opportunity. In order to face down the danger that is stalking us and move through it, we first have to recognize that we are facing a crisis. So why is it that our leaders seem not to hear such clarion warnings? Are they resisting the truth because they know that the moment they acknowledge it, they will face a moral imperative to act? Is it simply more convenient to ignore the warnings? Perhaps, but inconvenient truths do not go away just because they are not seen. Indeed, when they are responded to, their significance doesnt diminish; it grows. -- Al Gore

Review...

One reviewer wants to know why there is a debate on this topic. I'll tell you why...it's a hoax. The same reviewer tries to debunk the "contrarians" by discussing how one critic receieved money from the coal industry. Well, there are billions of dollars in grant money being thrown around to study Global Warming, which is why scientists need to keep the lie alive. The basis of their argument is flawed and and actually quite arrogant.

This planet has been in existence for hundreds of millions of years. Humans have been on this earth for less than 1% of that time. The earth has sustained itself, heating and cooling itself for millenia upon millenia. If you were to plot the life of the earth on a timeline at an inch for every ten thousand years, it would be approximately 450,000 inches long or approximately 7 miles long. Our time on this earth as homo sapiens would be about 2 inches long, and as humans living in industrialized nations which supposedly are causing global warming, would be completely invisible to the naked eye.

The amount of recorded history to support the claims is irrelevant. It would be like drawing definitive conclusions about the temperature, ecosystem, mineral and chemical content, tides, and wildlife of every ocean on earth from one thimble full of ocean water. The fact is, the earth has been able to heat and cool itself following scientifically researched patterns, without the help or interference of man. The earth has been warming for millions of years following the last ice age.

The next time someone tries to tell you that global warming is an undeniable fact, ask that person why, just a mere 30 years ago, did these same scientists actually discuss dropping coal soot on the polar ice caps to melt them, because they thought the earth was getting TOO COLD? Junk science pays big bucks I guess.

Mother earth has its own patterns, our pattern of obnoxius emissions are nothing in comparison to what is happening inside the earth and in vicinity of our planetary orbits. We are a net result of nearly 15 billion year of evolution since the Big bang.Every cell of our body owes its origin to that bang out of 'nothingness.'

Our self realisation and conciousness is a very recent development, sometime we do get a little ahead of ourselves as a result of our over enthusiasm. Mr Gore has definitely attemted that.

Lets stop wasting and worrying about these alarmist warnings, it is the poverty and unequal distribution of resources that is the biggest killer of mankind,if 'Earth' was becoming so inhabitable, we would not have had longevity of age and increasing populace plus prosperity unmatched by any other period of mankind's limited and non descript history of last ten thousand years.

Perhaps on twin counts of our 'intelligence' and knowing of self where we could be amongst the only one out there, in cosmic terms our 'physical requirements' to live and 'size' we are really insiginificant, although very unique as a result of our self conciousness.

Our imagination has no bounds, ( it is for this that we come out with 'Club of Rome and Malthusian kind of thesis so very often)we can imagine in last 10 decades what can be possibly imagined, limitless imagination that given us the unique imprint of a the only intelligent being in the so far discovered cosmos!

In temrs of size and resources we spend to esixt, we live on a small obscure, hidden planet within a relatively minor Glaxy called the 'Milky way' that contains 100 billion stars, many of them far bigger than our life star 'Sun,' and this Milky Way is part of a Universe that has more than 100 billion glaxies. The most astounding fact and the relaity of our Universe is that what a true waste of time /space if so far in billion of light year distances, this unique Universe of ours has not replicated any other intelligent radio signal of even the most basic kind! It is our 'boundless imagination' through which we create the 'time travel at speed of light, the Borg, the assimialtion of Borg, that breeds threat, we thrives on unseen dangers, this book of Al-Gore culminates that inner insecurity of man.

A earth about to loose its 'cycle of life' in next 5 decades through melting of polar caps is the biggest hoax. When time is counted in terms of our Universe in billion of years, five or ten decades has no significnace, if any such thing has to happen the telltale signs would be too apparent, life does not change course in decades, it is always about millions of years. Earth is a living body, it has a history of 4 billion plus years, it has delivered 'man' from its womb after nearly 4 billion years of evolution, and 15 billion years from the creation of the first atom, it is a cruel joke that 'mother earth' will fall prey to 500 millon dinkies (cars) that we think are great threat. It is our 'narcissism of self intelligence' and 'confidence of knowing too much' that evolves into such grandoise theories of new changing course of human evolution in next 10 decades.

Developments on 'Earth' has been so far unique, it shows no sign of sickness continues to care and deliver new 'man' and resources for ever increasing population.

Creation and intlligence increasing at a pace that is truly mind boggling, we are 6 billon moving to 12..

Human life is a product of the most unique of nature's circumstances, for bilions of years of evolution has resulted in such a balanced creation, any subtle imbalance would have resulted in a 'mass death' or eradication, rather we have conquered mass threats like plague, polio, small pox and infections, we are on cusp of new level of global consciousness, if environmental damages stories are so true the rising sea levels should have sunk Maldive so far, the amount of money being thrown to promote this 'hoax' is equivalent to the recent Y2K hoax, the Avian Flu Hoax the Sars Hoax..

The emissions that are far bigger and threatenings to life are rarely ever mentioned, it is through the 'mechanism of nature' that earth controls such detrimental emissions and continues to
prosper.

1.Movements of the tectonic plates
2.Earthquakes and volcanoes
3.Solar activity

Earth faces other fatal past natural occurrences that caused mass extinction and human had no role to play in that... Permian era

According to Gregory Ryskin, associate professor of chemical engineering at Northwestern University, "explosive clouds of methane gas, initially trapped in stagnant bodies of water and suddenly released, could have killed off the majority of marine life and land animals and plants at the end of the Permian era" - long before dinosaurs lived and died. Ruskin believes that methane may have been the driving force in previous catastrophic changes of the earth's climate, where 95 percent of marine species and 70 percent of land species were lost in - geologically speaking - the blink of an eye.

The last methane imbalance 55 million years ago heated the Earth as much as 18F within decades! Called the Late Paleocene Thermal Maximum (LPTM), this global grilling lasted about 100,000 years. What caused it? Best guess is that this last vast methane release came when massive tectonic plates collided under the Indian Ocean and subcontinent hard enough to push up the Himalayas.

How much methane was released by the latest Tsunami as a result of the tectonic collision in that area? No one knows?

Threats from earthquakes and volcanoes..

On August 26 and 27, 1883-they heard the bang in Australia, 2,200 miles away. In Java and Sumatra, tidal waves rearing 120 feet snuffed 36,000 lives in the blink of an eye. Ash reached a height of 50 miles, blocking the sun and plunging the surrounding region into darkness lasting nearly three days. In the "Little Winter" that followed, global temperatures dipped 1.2 degree C, and did not return to normal until 1888.

This wasn't the first global nudge from Sumatra--which was born when the island of Java split in two in February 535. That blast was heard all the way into China, where startled inhabitants looked up from paddies and courtyards as a low rumble equivalent of two thousand million atomic bombs rolled out of clear southwest skies with the roar of an awakening Dragon.

A 30-mile high fountain of molten magma rained ash over thousands of surrounding miles, derailing entire civilizations as the talc-like volcanic dust remained suspended high aloft for years. The "Dark Ages" literally began as the sun turned a sickly green, then dimmed to a memory. The cooler temperatures from Krakatoa's stupendous blast revved up bubonic bacteria in fleas, and increased rat populations in Ethiopia. Many infected rodents boarded ships for Europe.

Solar activity..

The Sun is about 4.5 billion years old. It will continue to radiate for another 5 billion years. It will start to run out of core hydrogen in *less* than 4 billion years from now, and will be expanding into a red giant from that point on. In fact, the energy output of the sun will increase prior to the red giant phase to a point where the Earth will probably become too hot to support life in only 1 or 2 billion years.
