A review of his political posts shows Baker to be one of the most relentlessly partisan Democratic posters on SI. Essentially no different from American Spirit. He decided to retire from his State Dept career simultaneously with Bush's election (for which we can be thankful). The timing just a coincidence, of course, according to him. But obviously, he resigned rather than work for Pres. Bush, whom he has a personal visceral resentment against, stemming from some strange unresolved adolescent issues:

Bush reminds me very much of what we called "NORTH DALLAS rich kids" when I was growing up there. Silver spoon up their butts, selfish, totally self-indulgent and usually sitting on a mean streak a mile wide, which they could afford to indulge thanks to Daddy's money for the cars, business opportunities and legal help when required.

Ironic coming from a real "north Dallas rich kid" (how many non-rich people quit their jobs after working 13 years to devote themselves to managing their investments?) Is it just me or does that description he wrote sound a lot like the face he shows on SI.

I have to think if the real GWB were like Baker's description, he would never have gone into politics but would content himself to managing family money and posting vitriol on the internet, just like ....
