The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth. That's the way it has been going for millennia. Blokes are definitely less gorilla-like than they were 20,000 years ago when Neanderthals were still filling niches in France [and not fully eliminated yet it seems]. I think you have got it GPS. What remains to be seen is just how things develop from here. It is as plain as the nose on our face that women have done quite a significant job in changing blokes from chimps to how we are now. They are not fast at their work though, because it has taken them a million years to do it, though the last 10,000 years has been a lot more rapid and it's going like crazy now that there are 6 billion people seething in the melting pot and eugenics programme. If blokes were doing it, we'd have got it all done and dusted and be out at the golf course millennia ago. But that's their job. Blokes have been responsible for fighting the neighbouring tribes and inventing CDMA. And a good job we have done too. The hssn genes are spread all over the place and I don't think it's as simple as rounding up a bunch of Libertarians, Nobel Prize Winners or mathematicians. But that would be a good start. It's an epidemiological problem = find a bunch of people who have the hssn characteristics, then dig into their DNA and see what correlates with others with the same characteristics. Then seen if that's a causal relationship. Good point about there being a good supply of jerks. What women say they like and what they like are not the same thing. Which is par for the course in human interrogation, water-boarding or not. One is a verbal test, one is a mating test. <Are “hssn” guys that don’t try to dominate others? Are many of the Libertarians that you know hssn? Are there only a few Democrats or Republicans that are hssn? Which of these groups have the particular DNA that is likely to be removed from the gene pool? > Cooperation is replacing domination almost completely. Territoriality is near enough to irrelevant these days. One tribe of blokes can't hop the border, kill all the other blokes and grab the girls. It doesn't make economic sense. The power is to the cooperators. Cooperators are the Geek. A footie team of tough guys can't form a cooperative gang and achieve anything by thumping around the place beating people up. They can't steal a free space path loss equation. They wouldn't recognize it if they saw it. They'd mistake a Schroedinger equation for one. So yes, domination has had its day [not completely, but rapidly fizzling out]. Libertarians are not necessarily cooperators. On the contrary, they might simply be carrying strong cat DNA remnants. Democrats are cooperators, but strongly influenced by the tribal DNA to form dominance hierarchies. Republicans are the conquest types - born to rule. The right DNA seems to be spread around, which is not surprising. It's probably gradually crystallizing somewhere more than others. Maybe per capita it's most common in Japan, or maybe even North Korea [in a perverse irony], or Mexico City or tucked away in a some odd place in Africa. My guess is that the hopelessly slow and guesswork arrangement of the red in tooth and claw process will be superseded by the McDonalds genetic engineering approach.
