The Iraqis are not stupid. They see Gotham City rising out of the Green Zone, the worlds largest embassy compound. They see the military presence, the 14 bases. It's pretty obvious that there is a new kid on the block. While they see a new city rising in the background in the foreground everything is getting blown up. People are getting killed. The economy has gone to hell. There's high unemployment. The streets are not safe. The electricity is worse than when SH was running the joint. A complete and total screw up by the Bush administration. US casualties: 3,000 dead. 20,000 wounded. Out of those 20,000 wounded many died later of their wounds. Iraqi death count is so high it's unknowable. 100,000 dead and 300,000 wounded have been estimated. We're being lied to about the situation improving. It's not. ac.wwu.edu
