I was going to ask why anyone would knowingly rent from an owner who might be foreclosed upon. Seems to me this could prompt a very impromptu need to move out and find new digs.

All in all, if there are many sellers out there who can't sell and have just decided to hold on to their properties, and they're casting around for renters, some beneficial deals on great terms could probably be worked out in many cases.

Guess it depends on how strong or weak the rental market is in a particular location.

We shouldn't forget that the world is still full of folks who would like to invest in/own real estate when they can afford to, so renters could take advantage of seller hardships to feather their nests in new ways to reach the goal someday.
