No one speaks about the one thing China fears the most ...a Japan gone nuclear and arming herself . And what I understand they already do have very good pin point ballistic missle delivery system capabilities right now . A ballistic nuclear armed Korea is something the Japanese do not take lightly .

And one could make the assumption that such state of the art missle systems with pin point accuracy are well within this technologically sophisticated country's capability and creating their own nuclear weapons would certainly follow a speedier timetable than any other nation on earth attempting to do so ...they proly could do MIRV's as well absolutely -->NP <g

Now if Sony could just make batteries that don't explode & catch fire ;)

The situation between North Korea and China is complex, and just got more complex. I suspect you are correct in many ways about the power of historical ties. In a way it is like the historical tied that bind the US and Britain.

North Korea's detonation of a nuclear warhead, increases the pressure on South Korea to have a bomb, and on both Japan and Taiwan. It certainly makes the world less safe.
