Some interesting points there - I find the fashion industry does much more to promote overtly sexual images of young teens and pre-teens; the under-18 crowd just don't figure that prominently in the top TV shows and movies (which are populated mostly by adults except in stupid sitcoms). And they aren't located in a convenient clump like Hollywood that the conservatives can demonize all at once. In fact, a lot of the companies pumping out pre-teen sexual advertising are probably owned by staunch Republicans.

The appeal to pay more attention to real suffering in Congo and Sudan is admirable. But the administration has done little beyond the level of token special envoys to make a difference. We don't have any boots on the ground there to stop the rape and killing. And Washington hardly uttered a peep about Zimbabwe while it imploded.

There are certainly more than 3 people working on nuclear non-proliferation. A lot of them aren't American so perhaps they don't count, LOL.

I wouldn't agree that the Foley case should not be an important litmus test issue for the Washington crowd. It tells how they operate, how they think, their hypocrisy and their deceit. All need a thorough public airing. Like Robin Williams says in his new movie, politicians and diapers should both be changed regularly, and for the same reasons.

Watching lumpy Denny Hastert stammer on TV is proof enough of that.

Take a look at the final sequence of "Little Miss Sunshine" to see how we sexualize children.
