Our economy, like many, is designed to serve the needs of the wealthy and the powerful. You don't want the serfs rebelling, but you certainly want them working as hard as possible for a small piece of the pie.

Hitching them to the debt-wagon ensures their obedience and hard-work. They certainly don't want to lose what little they have, now do they?

A few knuckleheads will get hurt along the way, but they have no one but themselves to blame.
