If you have a card that pays rebates on purchases, you'd like a high limit and pay off your card in full every time the bill comes in.

As for buying a car with credit card.... after buying several over the years and trying to get the dealer to take as much as possible on my card (due to rebate I'd get from credit card firm)....the max a car dealer will accept via credit card is $2,000.

I have cards with Chase, Citibank, and HSBC and none of them ever do things like that.
