Yes, living in San Diego half of the year with one of my two cellars here I do know some about CA wines. But let me tell you this, first of all I am not at all into Merlots and next, having my big Burgundy time behind me - still have quite a few bottles in my cellar - I am not into the recent Pinot Noir trend either.

Looking for great Italian wines below $20? You need to go to Umbria. Like Montefalco but not much of that is imported to the US. Check the Montefalco from Capria for instance, until a year ago unknown to most people. Great value.
