HAR!!! They're called Canada and America!

Seriously, though, if the South had been allowed to seceed or if they'd won the war, it's very unlikely that North and South would have remained separate countries. What WOULD be different is how states would interact with the national government.

All of us. The Civil War set the stage for an omnipotent National Government which is still growing and amassing power onto itself. We don't have a "federal" government except in the name and in our imaginations.

Lincoln didn't have to bypass the Constitution to win the Civil War. It's a shame that he did so.

When a President is allowed to undermine the very laws that make the United States the GREAT country it is, then we should ALL stand up and object.
