People want *news* not just opinions.

There won't be any actual news about what impact the Foley thing had on the elections until after the elections. It's physically impossible to report on what happened until it happens. But people are spending enough time talking about it now so it looks like lots of people are interested in the speculation, just as the article says.

The same thing happens on this thread. Some hint of something breaks and everybody yammers about it. By the time it comes into focus, everyone has already lost interest.

I, for one, am not interested in the runup. As is typical for me in the months preceding elections, I'm avoiding the news, such that it is.
