No problem... I figured Bush would be a Harold Ford, just sort of there, not doing anything great but not doing any harm. Steady as she goes... There were two reasons why I got who Bush was right away: the first.......the open mike + swearing business......having worked for a councilman, you don't ever say anything controversial in public let alone swear without checking around to make sure you can not be overheard. I can't tell you how careful my boss [the councilman] and I were in public. The second had to do with his being president of DEKE. When I was in school, I met DEKES from several campuses............invariably, they were the animal house of fraternity row. Not long after that, the stuff about his career came out and I realized that we had a major loser on our hands. That's why election nite.....when late in the night[remember I'm on the West coast] they reversed themselves and were reporting that Bush had carried FLA, I became sick to my stomach. No exaggeration.....I knew we were in very big trouble........but not nearly as big as its turned out. I hadn't counted on a 9/11. A few days ago his father was on CNN........I have no way of knowing for sure but I think he's one very unhappy father. In fact, I think its tearing him up badly. He started to tear up on the show.....they weren't discussing GW but I have a sense he was behind the tears.
