The Vagina Monologues championed sex between an adult and a teen as some sort of awakening. It's called normalizing the perverse through art. What purpose it serves, I couldn't tell you.


It serves to normalize what may not be normal to most people, to make socially acceptable that which may not be

I hated VM, but while I am not in favor of "normalizing the perverse" (thanks, I like that phrase), I wouldn't censor VM on that basis as I don't believe that was what VM was about. That one monologue was but a tiny piece of a whole.
Still, many were made uncomfortable by the show, and I can understand why. I think my husband would have HATED it, and we have friends whose daughter appeared in it, and it was hard for them.
