Very few of the Hollywood crowd are on the state dinner invitation list when a Republican is in the White House. That's why they're so grumpy. Remember how Clinton constantly invited all the liberal entertainers to WH social functions? Possibly they were the only ones who would accept the invites from the Clintons. He admires them because they can look into cameras and deliver a line like "I never had sexual relations with that woman" just as convincingly as he can.
