But she isn't bitching about the past. She's worried about the present and the future. Have you read what she says? For example: I have nothing against the hijab, of course, as long as it is being worn by choice. Many of my relatives and friends wear a headscarf. Most of them began wearing it after the war. It started out as a way to avoid trouble and undue attention, and now they just keep it on because it makes no sense to take it off. What is happening to the country? And there is much more like that. You seem to read what you think is there instead of what is there. ME: The Bush admin didn't have a clue about the dynamics of Iraqi society before they began this invasion. You: That was more than 3 years ago. Almost 4. That was me speaking, not her. It's relevant because they still don't have a clue. And it's relevant because they don't even have the sense of shame and sorrow that LBJ had about the Vietnam mess that he made so much worse than he was bequeathed. If they/Bush did, he wouldn't be spouting "Stay the Course" nonsense. Or this political "Cut and run" BS. I hope you know that there will be a change of course next year. Baker and Hamilton won't release their findings until after the election to "remove it from politics," said Baker a few days ago, lol, "remove it." Right. More like, to allow Republicans another month to try to say that Democrats will cut and run, while they, Republicans will... what--stay the course? Uh-uh. If you want to spend your life bitching about the past, that's your choice. It's not my choice. I want to make today, and tomorrow, better. I see. So, according to you, I want to "make today, and tomorrow, worse? How are you doing making them "better" in a way that is different from what I am doing? I didn't know that LB found you "too liberal." Of course that isn't hard, since Barry Goldwater would likely be too liberal for him if he were around to express his views these days.
