I admit I like reading him as well, but I have followed the posts (on and off) over that time and unfortunately, he was a very poor predictor of how things turned out. Even after his return from Iraq he was still kind of upbeat about how things might turn out. He does seem to have cooled more recently. Look at Bilow, or Ed, or some of my own early posts for views that turned out more accurate. I liked Mike's post also BTW.

Here is a small sample...feel free to dig in on your own. BTW, one of my very early posts on this thread was about how Iraq is likely to split into 3 regions rather a single prosperous beacon of democracy. That seems still the likely outcome.

The Iraqis will end up paying for their own reconstruction out of their oil fields. Whither we get anything back is up in air. If we turn it over to the UN to run, the Euros will end up making a buck out of it, as usual. [ST: Guess who said the above]

>> I am most concerned with inspiring a whole new generation of terrorists by our preemptive invasion on a sovereign ME nation

When we end the places of tyranny which inspire and give support to terrorists, their network will be less effective, less able to grow, and less able to recruit a new generation of fanatics. When they are dead, it's even more difficult. The Taliban we killed who supported Osama Bin Laden, won't be threatening America again...Secretary Powell laid out clearly the link between Iraq and Al Queada. I don't believe he was lying. I believe he is a man of immense integrity and sound judgement. To not believe the link between terrorists and Iraq exists, you have to believe Colin Powell was either duped, a liar, or you simply missed the presentation and are uninformed.

What a crock! Hawk, the most underpaid mercenary ever in Iraq, keeps insisting that the chimp Nero invaded Iraq with the sanction of the UN! Despite it being pointed out to him repeatedly that Kofi Annan called the invasion "illegal"!

I have been reading the subject for at least 3 - 4 years. Most of the people posting now would have been banned then if they posted what they do now. Some, such as GeodeZeroZero would have been banned for posting as it did then and now. As you have said, Hawk is one of the most informed posters on the subject if not the most informed.
