I took the train when I was little every summer. I'd go visit my "grandma" in Detroit...She wasn't really my grandmother, her daughter was one of my mother's best friends, and she adopted her practically, and I was thrown in with the lot I guess.

Her whole family adopted me as a matter of fact, and when "grandma" got to old to take care of me, I went to the brother's family..His wife was great and their oldest daughter, a few years younger than me, grew up to win a couple of gold medals in the olympics in swimming. The brother was a detective with the Detroit police dept. I remember every morning watching him get his gun out of the top of the the hall entrance closet...he had four kids, and none of us would ever have thought of touching "Uncle Wally's gun"
