NewsLinksys Wireless Routers Target Home and Small Business Environments

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Linksys(R), a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the leading global manufacturer of broadband, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business environments, today announced it has shipped more than 25 million wireless routers since the company launched its first wireless router in January 2001. When Linksys first started shipping wireless routers, it shipped about 100,000 each month. Today the company ships nearly one million wireless routers world wide on a monthly basis including Wireless-B, Wireless-G, Wireless A+G and Wireless-N Routers.

Linksys is currently the worldwide leader in SOHO shipments of wireless routers with 40.2% revenue market share, according to the Dell Oro Group, an industry research company. Dell Oro reports there have been 48 million wireless routers shipped world wide, and there are currently more than 78 million homes equipped with a wireless network.
