Thanks for the links. I read them and they reminded me what a messy, imprecise business economics really is. While some of the parallels are interesting, neither comparison is very compelling.

I'm glad thay were at least somewhat illustrative.

In a sense, that's why I entitled both pages "Troubling similarities between..." and didn't draw any assured or dramatic or dark conclusions.
There are unquestionable parallels though as you noted, and the basic purpose of both pages is just to get some facts out there and show a case or possibility.

As far as economics, there's more than a little truth in a John Galbraith favorite quote of mine - "Economics exists to make astrology look respectable." <g>

One “ reference point “ peoples usually forget

to make, sitting with the fridge door open. With nothing more to look at.

To remember the name and home address of those who collected their Judas shillings for distributing 24/7 “ set up the game before framing it “ yummy yummies " for habitual short sellers on Wall Street. Weimar, Argentine, Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico, Turkey …always the same copy cats…..

Todays currency speculators, learning their first English, driving taxis in Sin City, short changing their passengers, before moving down to Texas, dropping fake Western Union information slips in Hotel toilet rooms with buy this and the other oil well bait. Luring locals with buy your old gold watch in the Dallas Morning Star.

Charts are only a sideline in their krixel kraxel artistry in make believe. As seen on TV.

It never was, or is the government causing inflation. The major contributer to inflation is the reporter, the bible editor, the babbler …. Who wants his to be, the biggest banana in the circus.
