Did you yourself see the interview with Pickens? If Pickens strikes you as a 'desperate leveraged long' who is in fear that it'll be 'trouble for him if the market smells blood' then I have to think you are a darned poor judge of character. Perhaps you've been hanging around the WS advice-peddlers too much, and don't recognize an honest man when you see one?

Don't get me wrong. I just saw the desperation in his long energy position.
Actually, I think you should have seen his interview--I think he was on for about 1 hour offering comments, not just a quick interview. You might have come a different conclusion about his long position.

What I concluded form the interview was just HOPE for BP to not start up so fast (questioning why there were rushing) and HOPE that there is some sort OPEC team effort and "HOPE" for some geopolitic issues to pop up. Saying that high oil is good because people's portfolios go up.
Yea, he probably is is very nice person despite those comments. Good people can be long energy and hope for something to support their position... that is OK because it just a finacial issue when it comes to trading; totally agree with that.

My comment is about his long position not his character...and how he sounded. He seemed to have wanted to make the biz show rounds unlike in the past when he was right. To me that is significant but maybe to others it is not. He did not need to make these kinds of comments in the past; back then it was simply supply demand issues. Why the change is what struck me as strange. Just something to think about. That is the key, imho.

btw-
Sorry, "smelling blood" was inappropriate; that was based upon the incorrect assumption that he was somehow up 80% this year; which I was wrong about because it was last year. Down 10% does not suggest much leverage use.

Yes, T Boone Pickens is a major philanthropist and a straight shooter.

Talking about Philanthropy:

One guy told me that he is the end of the world is near (rapture?) since many of the rich people are giving their money away for charity (ticket to heaven?): Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, Ted Turner, Bronson, Soros, Pickens, Bono... and then more. Do these smart people know that the average people don't?
