I spent my time strolling to the grocery store musing on this dissent and democracy and war issue....

1. If attacking a president with troops in the field aids the enemy, why did the Republicans do it so loudly in Bosnia and Kosovo?

2. Why didn't we take more casualties in Bosnia and Kosovo as a result?

3. Since this is the Long War that won't be "won" for decades, is there a serious proposal on the table to cut off all criticism of any president's national security policies for the next 30, 40, 50 years? How can there not be if it threatens our security?

4. Can we defend "freedom" by shutting off a principal element of democracy now or ever?

5. Does anyone "understand Islam" and know "what makes them all tick" when we are talking about more than a billion people in dozens of countries? Of course not.

6. Many of us here have dealt with Muslims, lived around them, hell, at least one poster here IS one, LOL. A monopoly of insight by one poster is improbable at best.

7. If a future president named Clinton launches an unpopular military campaign in a Muslim country, do we really think the "no dissent lest we aid the enemy" line will be heard as loudly as now, if at all?
