It certainly isn't "illegitimate" to credit God with anything; I respect that. However, so many things have now been explained that were first attributed to the supernatural, that it's logical to think there will be a natural explanation for this, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that neurological studies already have been done showing how different tones, harmonics and rhythms cause different reactions in the brain, some very pleasurable. Man, upon discovering this, would seek to repeat the sound. But I don't see that as being particularly more "spiritual" than liking the taste of chocolate, or the softness of fur, or the sound of a voice- something that pleases a sense. That which gives us pleasure will be pursued and developed.

Because I am not religious, yes, I do believe that everything has a rational, natural explanation. But even were I still religious, which I was for a very long time, I would still believe in a natural explanation. It wouldn't have anything to do with my faith. As I said before, to me, it was a nice sermon idea, but not really convincing scientifically.
