Ok, I figured there was a context I was overlooking. Its the undiscussable, protected status of the pedestal resident that is a problem. Freedom, for example, is still discussable regardless of our positioning.

You read my mind just fine. Hierarchies of principles are a different matter.

And I'm particularly fond of freedom as a principle, too.
