JDN, That is true about Europe, but I don't think the allied nations that fought before we got into the war could have finished the job on Hitler without our troops and weaponry. I know the suffering of the Russians, and can understand their hatred for the Germans after Hitler reneged on their agreement, but when the time came to take Berlin, the German people were fleeing in the direction of our troupes because of the atrocities of the Russian soldiers against innocent citizens.

Japan is a different story. Once the British were beaten out of China, and Singapore, they didn't have many troupes left in the Pacific part of the war, and our troupes had to go it alone in most of the battles.
