Claire Sung, Silicon Valley; Esther Lam, DigiTimes.com [Friday 13 October 2006]

Applied Materials had completed 45nm chip testing at its Maydan Technology Center in Sunnyvale, California, according to company officials. The technology center will continue pursuing technology migration to sub deep micron design rule chip production, noted the officials, adding that equipped with XT:1400 scanners from ASML, the center can fulfill design rule requirement down to 45nm. Applied Materials will also partner with IBM's laboratory in Albany and the Belgium-based semiconductor research center IMEC on 45nm and below design rule equipment development.
