As a Catholic I think it would be a mistake, at least here in America to return to Latin Masses. I remember those days, we sat there and had no idea what the devil was being said, etc. etc. To me, the Catholic Church's major weakness as it is is that it doesnt involve the PEOPLE enough in its services. This would only make it worse IMHO. I do agree the solemnity and women wearing veils was a very beautiful rite, but not too practical IMHO. jdn

Yes, I saw that, thanks.

"There's a lot of romanticizing of the old liturgy. Most parishes celebrated it as what they called Low Masses, with no singing, no preaching, the priest just mumbling something that was inaudible," Mitchell said.

I've heard and read that so many times, it must be some modernist talking point. Most parishes offered more than one Mass on Sunday. Low Mass was early, High Mass was later in the morning.

Vatican II also did away with the Leonine Prayers after Low Mass. Remember those? I think there were three. (It's been awhile since I've been) One was Hail Holy Queen, another was the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Remember how it started?....St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.....

I don't think the promoters of Vatican II wanted Catholics to be so militant anymore....
