What evidence do you have the retailers made their numbers in September by discounting? With double digit comparable store sales at many retailers, there is no reason to discount. They probably had a lot of out of stocks because I doubt they bought inventory expecting that kind of sales performance.

They likely not only beat their plans for sales but gross margin as well.

I think it's a ton of inflation being passed through, to get those kinds of numbers. Is it really even more units? How much more of this shit do people really need to buy? Increased appetites and a run on spandex for buldging waistlines?

Clothing +10.7%
Restaurants +8.3%

I'd like to see some inflation adjusted unit sales and actual traffic counts?
