Sorry for your misfortune.

You may need to apply for concealed carry permit, if those are available where you live.

Let your neighbors know what happend, at least some of it, including a street or two away. The same people are likely to try something else in the area, but not near your house for a while.

"Don't call 911.."

That may be true in Mobile but the other night I came home and realized someone was in my house. I called 911 from my car and two cruisers were at my house before I had finished giving the 911 operator all of the information they require. They got some teenage junkie who was stupid enough to turn on the lights.

I live in California and 911 worked well for me.
