Yes. My initial thought was the MI companies were concerned about risk. But it ends up the MI companies were getting cut out of the pie with some of the new loan products (the lenders didn't require MI).

So the MI companies are probably in pretty good shape to withstand the downturn ... better than some might expect.

Very unlikely they had any influence. The lending guidelines were obviously needed irrespective of the case presented by the PMI companies.
