The edge is also referred to as access or Class5, but in this case specifically we are referring to QChat, which is a VoIP application running on your handset to replace the existing DirectConnect service from Nextel. EV-DO RevA upgrades the reverse link and improves latency so an IP Voice application can meet the current performance of DC. Most of the opportunities we are seeing in wireless now are in the core network.

Tell ya what, I'll put together something of a history of this whole PTT/QChat/Sprint/Nextel evolution, it will help refresh my memory. I met with Sprint formally 3 times, twice at their HQ and once with the CTO over the phone. Then there was all the informal stuff we SI QCOM guys established with all the players - Sprint, Nextel, QCOM, Flarion et al.

I'll also try to track down some of the old contacts and see if I can come up with something new. Will keep you posted. Today is for football, so check back tomorrow.
