"Republicans Write Off Reynolds?

According to Robert Novak, "a Republican campaign operative with a reputation for accuracy has put Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, on the list of incumbent Republicans who are 'gone' -- that is, sure to lose their seats on Nov. 7."

and it doesnt stop there

"In Minnesota, Klobuchar Running Away in Senate Race

Amy Klobuchar (D) "continues to hold a substantial lead" over rival Mark Kennedy (R), according to the latest Minneapolis Star Tribune poll, "and there are signs that national Republican leaders are now turning their focus to other Senate campaigns."

Klobuchar leads Kennedy 55% to 34%.

Key finding: "Voter choices in the Senate race are turning mostly on national issues such as the Iraq war and President Bush's 61% job disapproval rating in the state, the highest he has had."

In Iowa, Culver Moves Into Lead

In Iowa's gubernatorial race, Chet Culver (D) has moved ahead of Rep. Jim Nussle (R-IA) "in a hotly contested governor's race that was tied a month ago," according to a new Des Moines Register poll.

Culver leads 46% to 39% among likely voters with 12% still undecided.

Key finding: "Culver has an edge in that his support is somewhat more solid than Nussle's."

In FL-16, Mahoney Maintains Lead

In Florida's 16th congressional district -- the seat formerly held by disgraced Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) -- a new Research 2000 poll shows Tim Mahoney (D) leading Foley replacement Joe Negron (R), 48% to 41%.

Surprisingly, 71% of those surveyed claim Foley's resignation doesn't impact their vote though 53% believe the national Republican leadership covered the congressional page scandal that led to Foley's downfall."

"Bush got more votes then Gore, deal with it."

For some odd reason detractors of President Bush never seem to recall the early calling of Florida caused tens of thousands of voters to stay home on election night in the Florida panhandle. The lowest informed estimate I ever saw was that it caused a 5,000 vote pro Bush margin to not get cast. Most estimates were higher than that. Lets not forget the absentee ballots in Florida that Gore challenged and got thrown out. They would have been almost entirely for President Bush.
