Dow Chemical also went bankrupt once. Many major companies have. It's a defense mechanism used to stay IN business, not in order to go OUT of business. This story has been falsely reported on O'Reilly and other rightwing outlets as if it's the end of Air America. Wrong. Not in the least bit.

This year the radio industry is getting a big kick in the butt, learning that the country isn't as conservative or Republican as they thought, and that progressives have lots of money to spend and are here to stay in equal numbers as conservatives.
In fact if you look at the raw numbers, there are more democrats than Republicans in the country, several red states have turned purple, purple states blue and blue states even bluer. States like Virginia, Ohio, ARizona and Colorado want progressive radio and they will eventually get it. Also, Bush-Cheney-Delay's failure will hurt the rightwing for a long time. Many of the Hannity-Limbaugh credos have now been proven wrong.

So sponsors will flock to progressive shows more and more. The real problem is the unfair consolidation of big media companies, most of whom have a clear rightwing bias. But bottomline it's about money, and as O'Reilly, Fox, Hannity and Limbaugh fade out, more and more progressives and moderates will move in. This will take a few more years to happen, it's hard to undo 15 years of rightwing domination, but according to the rules of the free market progressives will end up with their fair share. Like it or not, pal.

BTW, did you see how badly Fox news is doing compared to two years ago? And don't forget progressives are now starting to dominate the net and webcasts. Satellite radio too.
