I doubt if we can get by Southern Miss. They beat NC State and have been playing well lately.

Beamer sticks with his QB irregardless of whether he is having a good game or not.

I don't think the team has ever accepted Glennon.

We have the wonder child of the state of Maryland on the bench, Ike Whiticar, a Vince Young type kid, Cory Holt, and what about our back up running backs, Elan Lewis and Kenny Lewis. How many snaps have any of these kids had. Elan Lewis, had something like 5000 yards in highschool. Kenny Lewis got in there and had a great run for a TD. It looked like the guy had some moves to me.

After two fumbles and two interceptions, I though Beamer should have pulled Glennon and put in the water boy....

Congratulations BC! Great come-from-behind victory. Clearly this game meant more to Boston College than it did to Va Tech as it validates BC's hopes for a national championship playoff.

The Hokies showed great sportsmanship throughout the game which I have called for in the past. Giving the game to the Eagles in the last four minutes was perhaps a bit too much.

I really feel for all the Va Tech players who played their hearts out, even those who blundered into mistakes at critical moments. Va Tech demonstrated on national TV that they COULD have beaten a #2 ranked team. In the end it seemed they did not want to actually ruin BC's chances of showing that an ACC team deserves to be in the big game.

>>“That’s what Heisman’s do,” Hokies defensive end Chris Ellis said. “They don’t ever give up. We beat the O-line, put licks on him and he came through at the end. He had a 2-minute drill — two of them. He did what he had to do.”<<

Chris Ellis was a standout during the game. His after-game comments summed it up perfectly.

Sean Glennon should not feel badly as he really stepped up his game a notch and showed he is a very competent college QB

Matt Ryan, though, showed he put everything he had on the field including losing his cookies on-camera when he was done. I loved the scene where he knocked coach Jeff Jagodzinski down because they where both laughing so hard after the final score was made for BC in the final seconds. It all seemed so perfectly scripted except for leaving Aponavicius out.

Coach Beamer's classic look of frustrated resignation on the sidelines at the end was painful but overshadowed by the innocent joy and ecstasy we were seeing on the other side. Oh well. The Hokies have put that kind of hurt on more than their share of hard working teams over the years too.

>>“You think back to several times during the game where you have an opportunity to go ahead and win it,” Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said. “We just didn’t quite get it done.”<<

I guess what I am saying is I hated to see the Hokies lose, but it was an exciting game to watch right up to the final seconds. Too bad most of Boston was also watching the Red Sox on another channel.

The Hokies still have a chance to squeek past Virginia into the ACC Championship game for a rematch, maybe.

P.S. BC's punter Johnny Ayers should get a special Emmy nomination for his writhing in pain after leaning into Dustin Pickle. At that point VPI was ahead 10 - 0 with 3:37 left in the third quarter. BC was backed up to their own 4 yard line facing 4th down and 31 making a punt from deep inside their own end zone. Suddenly, Pickle seems like just another student wandering around looking for his next class while Ayers is giving great drama lessons by curling up on the ground.

The referee awards BC with a first down on the 19. I knew then the Hokies could find a way to lose in the blink of an eye. The last 4 minutes and 11 seconds of the game had me blinking in disbelief.

Geaux Eagles.
