I have never had a frightening experience in a small plane. My children's first experience in a small plane was with the same brother in law. Their latest was on a privately owned jet with two professional pilots. They should be about as comfortable with it as I am.

I've flown in small aircraft a handful to times, most recently at night, in the wintertime, from Port Angeles, WA, to Boeing Field in Seattle. The pilot was a Seattle lawyer who was quite an experienced pilot. The guy with me spent a lifetime in aviation, building helicopters and composite aircraft parts, and he assured me the pilot knew what he was doing.

Another time, I flew with a HS buddy who worked flying small cargo airccraft. Couple years later, he crashed and died.
