this is well reported; i also feel that when Clinton tried to focus on international stuff the right wing cried "Wag the Dog" and forced him back into dealing with scandals, some of which were serious,ie Monica but many of which were nothing.

A president has to deal with multiple issues when president including scandals. And let's not forget Monica was of his own making.....not that I think the right was justified in their reaction to it.

IMO there is another issue here as well........back then, the more outspoken members of the right, the neos, were 'screaming' at Clinton to go after Sadam Hussein and ignore bin Laden. Of course, that doesn't stop them now from being hypocritical and accusing Clinton of negligence when it comes to bin Laden. When its to their benefit, the right can have very short memories.
