Exxon may appear to move slowly, but that's not the whole story. In the early 2000's when many companies, most notably Shell, went into paralysis Exxon pressed on with around 75 major project worldwide.

As a result of that they have major new production coming on stream now, like Sakhalin 1, Kizomba A and B, Erha, etc. Those together are about one million bpd.

Who else can say that? BP could have had about 1/2 million had they executed properly on Thunder Horse and Atlantis.

Exxon's approach is steady as she goes, through good times and bad. Betting they are wrong is not a high success move.
