Your assertion could boil down to "alcoholics, even those who have not had any alcohol in many years are rigid, dishonest, self-centered, and belligerent". I don't think I agree with that assertion, certainly it is a very unsupported assertion. Alcoholics who are currently using, or cycling back and forth between periods of use and relatively brief periods of abstinence, might exhibit such traits to a greater degree than the average person but even among active alcoholics none of those traits are universal.
