The commercials have become truly moronic. Attack ads provoke rebuttal ads, the stories they tell are 100% opposite, so one side or more likely both are self-serving liars, just out to promote their cause. But we have had 20+ years of hate-talk radio and TV now. That conditioned a whole generation to believe that screeching and bashing are sufficient for "political debate". Like I said before, SI's political content really proves that point, full of delusional twits who think they are winning some big political food fight by screaming louder than the next guy. They convince no one and change nothing. Like most attack ads nowadays.
