I'll be right over.

The first pie I ever made was a peach pie. I was on my fire lookout, Diablo Mountain. It was 1962. I was eighteen.

My stove was a little wood stove, and I had to get my firewood from the dead alpine fir trees down over the top, because I was just above timberline. Alpine fir trees do not make very good firewood either. I had to pack my water from a spring that was a mile away and a thousand feet down.

Anyway, I made my pie and took it out of the oven. I put it on the floor behind me to close the oven door -- and stood up, stepping right in the middle of it.

So much for peach pie.
