Yes I was in that little lookout cabin for 52 days straight, all by myself. Some of the best times I've ever had. Had a big hoary marmot visit every other day or so, and mucklechucks (golden mantled ground squirrels) every day. Once or twice a mountain goat, and moons so bright I thought the Bitterroot Range was on fire.

I had no need of a tower, so my lookout was just set on a rock platform. On one side was a huge cliff.

My outhouse was a little log affair at about the position where that picture was taken from. This isn't it; this one is much fancier.

I never had a helicopter land there. That helicopter is just in the picture at firelookout.com
