Samsung Elec Q3 profit jumps on chips, phones Mon Oct 16, 2006 SEOUL, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. on Monday beat forecasts with a 16 percent rise in quarterly net profit as brisk demand boosted computer memory chips, while sleek new mobile phones led a handset sale rebound. Samsung, the most valuable technology company outside the United States, should post another quarter-on-quarter earnings improvement in the October-December period thanks to sustained momentum in semiconductors.
