In every discovery, something is left behind. The tsunami in my story came from an earthquake in the land they stood on. That is why the wave pushes them ahead, for it radiates from behind them instead of driving them back onto the shore. So, they had to flee.

That is the difficulty with 50 words or less to tell a story, you have to imply certain things through other details. It's a great challenge.
