And, their respective 'goals' are an independent Kurdish nation, and an independent Shiite Iraq - likely fundamentalist as is their Shiite neighbor Iran. Or, on the path to those eventual end states, an Iraqi federal structure where the Shiites and Kurds have control over the affairs in their own regions, and significantly over the oil wealth in their regions... while the minority Sunnis are banished to the badlands of Western 'Iraq', bordering Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Syria. (Already hundreds of thousands have emigrated.... Many more to come, I'm sure.)
