its plausible. and parts of it are counter intuitive enough to make me want to believe it. after all, logic in itself has been defied for nearly three years now. i think slider's rubin paulson theory is very very intresting. i have also thought, paulson could go one step further and pop the whole mess before it pops on its own (in concert with the fed). and let the democrats inheirit the public part of the mess going in. i doubt w cares much who takes his seat at this stage. otoh, why bush picked paulson must have been a very very weird meeting in a back room somewhere. like hiring a tiger when you are a field mouse. bottom line, i'm still for down and the resumption of the correction which began in 2000. when that will happen, i wouldn't guess more than your guess, it being as good as mine.
