I think Iran would love to see the US pull out in disgrace. My guess is that the Supreme leader knows that talking about unity is pointless at this time- a civil war is under way. Nothing Iran says is going to stop it. We know Iran has sent agents to Iraq and supported the Badr brigade, and that Iran is pursuing its own agenda in Iraq. I expect Iran wants a civil war, and that they want the US forece out in ignominy because of the escalating violence. That would be a double win for Iraq. I think the whole US Iraq experience has been, and will be, a huge win for Iran. I think the Supreme Leader knows that, and he's an excellent game player.
