"INTC is indicating that might be having a good quarter......."

So is AMD. Lots of reports of chip shortages, especially in the low range. Now AMD is switching to dual core at a fast clip, which impacts the number of chips they can make. But Fab36 should be pushing out as many square meters of silicon as Fab30 and there are also the chips from Chartered.

Interesting. I am hearing that chip inventories are high for this time of year.

Intel had some real problems related to their Centrino WLAN technology and thus with several key customers last quarter. While they found the problem and a fix 6 weeks ago, it still shifted some business to AMD (and WLAN to Atheros) and caused some longer term damage to their credibility.
