No, the tire slashing was part of the crime. What the Kerry campaign wanted to do is stop people from voting.

Not like the good old days... if you voted "wrong" in Chicago then you lost all city services, garbage collections, a parking spot, school of you choice.

'Course to these guys gerrymandering is their legacy, not anything wrong with that. Stack the deck, sell out to special interests, force the special interests to fire all Dem lobbyists, let the corporate lobbyists write the bills, sell access for election contributions, effectively give up the job of governance for job security.

No problem, just don't let an over-zealous volunteer slash a tire or the Reps will call you... what? A criminal?.
