Cyprian > So in other words you have no value system capable of distinguishing truth from falsehood and right from wrong.

And you have no value system, other than fairy-tales, capable of distinguishing truth from falsehood and right from wrong.

> So you have resigned yourself to the notion that there is no such thing as truth, because you don't know the truth, so there must not be any truth.

Balderdash, sir, if you pardon the expression. The demonstration of OBSERVABLE truth is what science is all about. We no longer have to depend on superstition and myth to understand the world in which we live.

> How sad. Lord have mercy on Searle.

> God has given you a conscience to distinguish, seared as it may be.

And I use it, whether you believe it or not. In fact, a basic dictum of life in any society, which is often attributed to Jesus amongst others, is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". In other words, if you have respect for other people they will have respect for you. Likewise, "inanimate" things -- like the earth itself. In other words, treat everything, including life, properly, and you will be treated properly.
