It's possible. I have to file to get my money back, even. (Unfortunately, I also defund everything else.)

A) I have 2K credit for putting in solar
B) I've been pulling out 40% of my income for 401K. Just upped it to 50% for the rest of the year.
C) Still have a cap gains loss to carry forward.
D) If I keep taxable income below 28K, and use the loss, it drops my taxable below 25K
E) Below 25K, there is a poor person's tax credit for contributing to an IRA, which you can do, even with a 401K. That'll give me another $450 credit (on top of deducting the contribution from my income).
I won't even have to itemize at that point. The personal deduction and the standard deduction will drop my income below what the credits cover.
It's wonderful, not paying for the war. A once in a lifetime chance to do it legally. I'll be just like a corporation.

Is that possible? I've heard in Canada you can refuse to have your taxes spent on military. I did not think it is possible here.

Actually it was the Government of Canada that refused to spend money on the military. Things got so bad that we had military families using food banks cause their salaries were so low. The Liberal party (they'd be Demoncrats in the US) bought big Jets for the Prime Minister, and refused to replace the 40 year old Helicopters in the military. Canada bought used subs from England, and then found out that because we left them at dock for years, the damned things don't float nor do they submerge. I think the last plan was to fit them with oars.
Besides Liberals always figured that the US would save Canada. But Canada figures it could beat anyone smaller than Denmark if it comes to war.
